You see--I started a blog during student teaching in the Spring of 2011 but I just never had the time to post because I was too busy blog stalking all the wonderful blogs in blogland. In Fall of 2011, I thought it would be an even better time because I should have had my own classroom but guess what............I didn't land a job.
You want to know the exciting news??????? I'm going to be a 2nd grade teacher(Prolly figured that out from my blog's name :) at my alma mater!!!!!! I'm so EXCITED yet nervous.........
I'm joining the linky party over at
I've been prepping things for my new classroom but when it came down to it there were somethings in blogland and on that never-ending Pinterest site I just couldn't find. Well I found the things I was looking for, I just didn't fall in love with anything and most things didn't fit my tastes so I made my own:)
First thing up------
Book bin and book labels.
I have over 2200 books that I will be taking into my new classroom. Where did I get all of them you may ask? Goodwill, thrift stores, garage sales, and Scholastic warehouse sales (<----- if you haven't been to one you need to go :)) I knew I needed some book bin labels but for the life of my there were none that fit the bill so I made my own. Check them out!
I made over 130 of these bad boys---------and matching book labels. Ran out of ink printing the book bin labels and I haven't made it to the store yet to get more so printing the book labels is just another thing on my to-do list.
Second thing accomplished.....
Writing center labels
I'm the kind of girl that loves simple yet sophisticated adorned with a little bit of cute clip art. I wanted the labels I used to be versatile with themes so that I didn't have to make new each year. Check out my writing center storage with my labels------
I made quite a few more labels but I'm going to start the year with just these materials and add more when I see that the students can work independently and make good choices. I'm going to make similar word work labels and math manipulative labels in the next few days so follow my blog and my store if you are interested in either of those!
Last thing I made.......
How We Go Home card ring for dismissal
If you got your job right out of college and never subbed...YOU ARE LUCKY! But you also missed out on some great opportunities and adventures as well as chaos!!!!
During this past school year, I subbed in K-6 classrooms and the one thing I thought would be the easiest was sometimes the most stressful time of the day----DISMISSAL.
To ease the burden on myself for the first few weeks of school and for substitutes in my room the entire year, I made cards to list students modes of transportation that can be carried with myself or the substitute during dismissal to insure that students are getting on the correct bus or staying after, if needed. I put the cards on a book ring and will complete the cards when I get my class list. I will hang it by the door so I can grab it as we exit the classroom.
Like to have it? Get it here!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you found something worth your while or in some way I inspired you to make your own!
